Sewing School In Ghana

For women living in the industrialized world, there is a wealth of opportunities to learn and choose an occupation or life path. However for women in developing nations there are few choices and most remain under-educated and lack trade skills. With the risk of becoming a young widow or loosing her family being a very real concern it is important for young women to have the ability to earn an income. In addition to securing her future in case of tragedy, this will allow for an increase in the earning ability for the family and create a “trickle-down” effect where the entire community is able to gain from her prosperity.

Therefore in Ghana (West Africa) we have established a training center for young girls to give them all the skills needed to create clothing of all types. Once the girls finish our training program, they are able to pass a national certification program. The girls receive a sewing machine and a diploma upon finishing the two year course so that she can go on to receive a well-paying job with a company or work independently, whatever she chooses to do. This method of strengthening the individual will serve to make an entire community stronger.

Please donate today; you can help by donating the following:

  • $50 will buy fabric for the school and for women who have graduated
  • $100 will purchase a new sewing machine for graduates
  • $2,000 will pay for one girl’s entire education and materials at the school

Make a difference in a young woman’s life and change the future of her village by supporting this school!
